Privacy policy
In short
- Your research stays in your own Chrome unless you use the cloud copy.
- We never read or send your eBay or AliExpress logins, cookies or payment details.
- If you link a Google account we receive only your email address and Google's account number, and use them only so your data can come back after a reinstall.
- We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or use it for anything but running the service.
What is stored on your computer
The extension saves, in your browser's own storage, the runs you make: the eBay listings and shops it read (titles, prices, sold counts, seller names, links), the AliExpress products it found for them, your settings, the Watchlist you choose, and an activity log of what the run did. This stays on your computer. Removing the extension erases it.
What is copied to the cloud (only if cloud copy is on)
The cloud copy is on by default in the builds we give to users. It sends to our server, which runs on Cloudflare:
- your saved runs and your Watchlist (the same content as above);
- a random key made by the extension on your computer. The server keeps only a one-way hash of it, never the key itself;
- the times of your last activity and the size of your data.
It never sends your eBay or AliExpress logins, cookies, payment details or your browsing history.
Linking your Google account
You can link the Google account your Chrome is signed in to, with one button. Google shows its own consent box and we ask for one permission only: to see your email address. We receive and store:
- your verified email address;
- Google's stable number for your account.
We use them for one purpose: when you reinstall the extension or use another computer, Google tells our server which account you are, so your saved data can be attached to the new installation. We also show the email to the person who runs the service so they can tell users apart when giving support. We do not use it to send marketing, and we do not read anything else from your Google account.
eBay Research's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Who can see your data
- You, in your own dashboard.
- The person who runs eBay Research can open the list of users (email, number of runs, size) and the saved data in the cloud, to give support and to keep the service working. They cannot see your eBay or AliExpress logins, because those are never sent.
- Cloudflare hosts the server and database on our behalf. It processes the data only to provide that hosting.
- Google verifies your Google sign-in. Nobody else receives your data, and we do not sell it or share it for advertising.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
Saved data is kept until you delete it. When you delete a run in the dashboard, it is deleted in the cloud copy as well. To have everything we hold about you deleted, including your Google email, write to support@nichlist.com from the email address you linked. We delete it within 30 days. Data on your own computer is deleted by removing the extension.
Security
Data travels over HTTPS. The server accepts a request only with your key, and only for your own data. A new installation can reach your data only by proving, through Google, that it belongs to the same Google account you linked. Google's sign-in tokens are checked with Google and are not stored.
Children
eBay Research is a business tool and is not meant for children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. We will tell users about any material change.
